§ 01 — The Firm

Fifteen years of the
independent path

"A boutique much closer to our roots — better able to provide independent, unbiased advisory services." — James S. Cassel, June 8, 2010

On June 8, 2010, a team of seasoned investment bankers who had worked together at Ladenburg Thalmann & Co. launched their own firm — Cassel Salpeter & Co. — from One Brickell Square in downtown Miami. Chairman and Co-Founder James S. Cassel and President and Co-Founder Scott E. Salpeter, proven as a dynamic team at Capitalink and then as colleagues at Ladenburg Thalmann, kept the professional team and the depth of experience — and took the independence.

The premise has not changed: objective, unbiased, results-focused services for middle-market and emerging-growth companies, with senior partners personally involved at every stage of every engagement. Today the firm is a registered broker-dealer and member of FINRA, headquartered at Continental Plaza, 3250 Mary Street, Suite 410, Coconut Grove — its new long-term home effective February 2, 2026, after more than fifteen years in Brickell — and maintains a national practice with transactions and assignments completed nationwide.

"Between Jim and me there is a huge network of professional advisors, lawyers, accountants, private equity firms and fellow investment bankers who have seen us in action and respect the good work we do."
Scott E. Salpeter — President & Co-Founder · founding announcement, 2010
"We're dealing with lower middle-market, sub-$100M deals. People are being opportunistic — on the buy side, people are starting to pay multiples. We're starting to see a reset in valuations; it's going to take time."

§ 03 — The Deal Board

Ten instruments.
Zero decoration.

A working board of interactive instruments — the same questions the firm asks, the same disciplines it applies, wired to live inputs.

"Ours is not a one-size-fits-all, commoditized process. The entire team takes a personalized, hands-on approach with every client."

Every instrument below is functional: move the inputs, filter the vault, walk the timeline, stress the outcome. Each one encodes a discipline the firm actually practices — competitive tension and scarcity value in a sale process, limited-auction orchestration in buyer engagement, rigorous valuation methodology behind 350+ opinions, and senior-led involvement from first call to closing.

Figures produced here are illustrative modeling for discussion purposes — the instrument methodology is transparent in each panel, and any real engagement begins with a consultation.

Why the architecture holds

We work closely with clients and their key professionals to ensure the process is handled efficiently — while simultaneously maximizing competitive tension and driving scarcity value. We continuously manage the process to ensure adherence to the established timetable, keeping all parties focused on closing. And one of the most valuable benefits we offer: devotion to the client's process, which in turn enables clients' operations teams to continue running their businesses day-to-day.

"James, Laura, Julian and the rest of the team at Cassel Salpeter worked tirelessly to find viable opportunities and were crucial throughout every stage of the deal." — Dr. Gregory Fox, President, Westchester General Hospital
